Our Head Instructor Rob Gherson played 5 years of Pro Hockey. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. In 2008 He was a member of the Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves in the AHL. Before his two years in Chicago he played for the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. He also attended many NHL Training Camps, including Washington, New York Rangers and Florida Panthers. In his first pro season he was named to the UHL All Rookie Team and Second Team All Star. Before playing Pro he played 4 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sarnia Sting and Owen Sound Attack. In the 2002-2003 season he was named the starting goalie for the OHL West Division All Star team posting a shutout and being named MVP of the game. Prior to his OHL career Gherson played for the Wellington Dukes of the OPJHL. In his one season with the Dukes he won East Division Rookie of the Year and was a member of the Silver Medallist Ontario Under 17 Team in the World Under 17 Hockey Championships. Throughout his career Robert has learned from many great goalie coaches and has developed a strong understanding of the position and knows what it takes to get to the next level. Rob emphasizes the fundamentals in his teaching: Skating, Positioning and Save Selection, while allowing the goalie’s natural abilities to thrive.
